Trained in his native Amsterdam, among others with Prof. Heinz Manniegel, and then collaborated with the most outstanding ballet masters, including Vladilen Semionov, Irina Kolpakova, Yevgeny Neff, Gennadi Seliutsky (Kirov Ballet, now Mariinsky Ballet), Mikhail Lavrovski (Bolshoi Ballet), John Clifford (New York City Ballet), and Erik Bruhn (National Ballet of Canada).
Martin danced the entire classical repertoire, including solo parts in ballets by Petipa, Balanchine, Fokine, Petit, Van Dantzig, Panov, and Limón at Het Nationale Ballet Amsterdam, the National Ballet of Canada, and the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
As a ballet master of the Grand Theatre in Warsaw and guest teacher of the Royal Swedish Ballet, the Finnish National Ballet, the Szczecin Castle Opera Ballet, the European Ballet School, the National Ballet Academy in Amsterdam, the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, and during summer courses all over the world (from Italy to Cyprus, from Israel to Taipei), Martin not only trained dancers of all levels but also coached the entire classical repertoire. Martin is also regularly invited to serve as a jury member at international ballet competitions.
Students trained by Martin Meng went on to study at the following schools, among others: the European Ballet School; the Vaganova School in St. Petersburg; the Bolshoi Academy in Moscow; the Hungarian State Ballet School in Budapest; the Kirov Academy in Washington; the Royal Ballet School in Antwerp; and the Nederlands Dans Theater summer course — many of them receiving international scholarships for top-tier places like Alvin Ailey and Ellison Ballet (both in New York), LINES in San Francisco, and the European School of Ballet in Amsterdam.
